Unprecedented in history, Oyebanji flies Ekiti Queen FC to Yola, boosts morale

In what many stakeholders have described as a rare development in the state’s sporting history, the Ekiti Queen F.C. travelled by air to Yola for a football competition, a move facilitated by Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.

The development is considered unprecedented in Ekiti State and, in many respects, across the South-West region, where state-owned football teams typically embark on long road trips to honour fixtures.

Findings revealed that the team departed from Ekiti and arrived in Yola, Adamawa State, by air, significantly reducing what would have been a three-day journey by road to about an hour.

Stakeholders noted that the decision not only eased the stress associated with long-distance travel but also minimised risks linked to insecurity and possible vehicle breakdowns.

Sources within the team said the improved travel arrangement had a positive impact on the players’ morale and overall preparedness for the competition.

They described the experience as a major boost for the state’s sports sector and a refreshing development capable of enhancing performance and competitiveness.

Observers have also commended the state government’s intervention, noting that such support could further motivate athletes and reposition sports development in the state.

The initiative has continued to generate reactions, with many describing it as a significant step towards improving the welfare of players and advancing the sporting profile of the state.
