In less than few hours to the new year, 2026, one thing you can not remove from the Chairman of Gbonyin LCDA, Benedict Oluwadamilare Ajayi performance in the outgoing year 2025 is, spirit of consistency, commitment and patriotism.
It is a common knowledge that when a particular year is winding up, individuals, governments and corporate bodies always take stock, to know their performances, areas of failure , among others.
This experiment is never out of way, because it enables those concerned, to plan on how to improve
on such performance in the coming year.
Looking at the year 2025, in Gbonyin Local Council Development Area where Oluwadamilare Ajayi controls therefore ,one can easily come to conclusion that the executive chairman of the LCDA has performed creditably well ,though there will always be room for improvement.
In the area of provision of water, his administration of constructed three motorised boreholes for the three major towns in the LCDA.
The towns in question include Ijan-Ekiti, Iluomoba-Ekiti, and Aisegba-Ekiti.
This singular gesture has gone a long way to curbing water borne diseases and improve the hygiene of the people.
Township and farm settlements roads that needed to be graded were also graded, to ease the challenges of motorists and farmers in bringing their farm produce to markets.
Still on roads, for highway visibility, verges of all roads within the council area were cleared, and this was applauded by many .
The Chairman also attended to challenges of traditional rulers in the LCDA.
For instance, solar security light was installed at the palace of Ajagun of Iluomoba Ekiti, while clearing of the site for the new palace of Onijan of Ijan-Ekiti was also spearheaded by his administration, not to mention various financial contributions to these towns during their Annual Day celebrations.
One significant breakthrough, recorded that can also not be glossed over, is the restoration of light to ilupeju ijan, after years of darkness.
The Chairman bought electric cables, and paid outstanding bills for the community, and today, the socio economic activities of the town has significantly improved, while criminal activities are now at the lowest ebb.
Having noticed that allocation the LCDA is getting can not translate his vision into reality, he deployed frantic efforts to boost the internally generated revenue of the council area by holding regular meetings where strategies, needed for this are discussed.
In this outgoing year, the Rates sector of the council, received a significant boost with the purchase of three motorcycles, to aid their performance.
No wonder ,there is a steady growth and improvement on the IGR of the LCDA in this outgoing year.
Damilare Ajayi’s administration does not joke with security of lives and properties.
It is a fact that nothing whatsoever had ever prevented monthly security and intelligence meetings in the LCDA.
Also, the year 2025 witnessed regular bush combing and logistics support for security personnel, working in the area.
Relatively the year 2025 witnessed lowest crime rate, without any report of kidnapping.
In the area of Agriculture, efforts were put in place in yam,maize and cassava cultivation, and this yielded positive results, although not totally uhuru, but hopefully, things will further improve in 2026.
Also on the nursery section where seedlings of cocoa,palm tree ,tick and gminal were planted ,the council recorded good results.
To make business activities comfortable, for market women,ijan market is currently receiving attention while another Culvert, having a challenge in Aisegba Ekiti is been attended, as we speak.
In the area of press and publicity,the council boss made three appearances in this outgoing year.
One was made at Ebi n Nla radio, second one at Ekiti FM, and another one at Se ti gbo, a weekly programme, put in place by Bareau of Community communication, office of the Governor, while LCDA activities were adequately publicised on radio, and on- online news platforms.
To cap it all, the year 2025 is remarkable in Gbonyin LCDA because of the noticable growth and development, and this is a pointer to what should be expected in the year 2026, since the door to the room of improvement is always open.
