Honourable Oluwatuyi Engages Constituents on the Essence of People-Centred Development

By:: Ola Asubiojo

In a thoughtful and inspiring engagement with constituents, the Executive Chairman of Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government, Honourable Oluwatuyi Oluwagbenga, reaffirmed that the true measure of development extends far beyond physical infrastructure.

He noted that while roads, public buildings, and other visible projects remain indispensable, the ultimate purpose of governance is to improve the quality of human life.

During the interaction, the Chairman emphasized that genuine social development is rooted in policies and programmes that directly touch the lives of ordinary people—through improved healthcare, quality education, community security, youth empowerment, agricultural support, environmental sustainability, and expanded economic opportunities.

According to him, development becomes meaningful only when it restores hope, preserves dignity, and enables every citizen to realise his or her potential.

He further observed that responsive leadership begins with listening.
A government that pays attention to the voices of its people, he remarked, is better positioned to deliver solutions that reflect the genuine aspirations of the communities it serves.
Such governance nurtures trust, strengthens public confidence, and promotes inclusive growth.

The Chairman also stressed that sustainable development cannot be achieved by government alone.

He called for stronger collaboration among traditional rulers, religious leaders, community development associations, youth and women groups, as well as other stakeholders, noting that lasting progress is built on shared responsibility and collective commitment.

Reaffirming his administration’s unwavering dedication to people-centred governance, Honourable Oluwatuyi Oluwagbenga assured residents that every policy and intervention under his leadership would continue to prioritise the welfare, safety, prosperity, and dignity of the people.

The engagement concluded on a note of optimism, with the Chairman expressing confidence that through unity of purpose, visionary leadership, and active citizen participation, Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government will continue to flourish as a community where development is measured not merely by structures erected, but by lives transformed and futures inspired.
