Ajoni LCDA Commences Construction of Divisional Police Headquarters in Ipao-Ekiti to Strengthen Community Security

Ajoni Local Council Development Area has commenced the construction of a modern Divisional Police Headquarters in Ipao-Ekiti, a flagship project of the council aimed at boosting security, curbing kidnapping, and safeguarding lives and properties across Ajoni LCDA and its environs.

The foundation-laying ceremony was held on Wednesday, 22nd April 2026, with government officials, security chiefs, traditional rulers, and community stakeholders in attendance.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Prince Michael Ogungbemi,
Executive Chairman of Ajoni LCDA and initiator of the project, described it as a decisive step in the council’s commitment to peace and development.

“This project, conceived to protect our people. Security remains the bedrock of meaningful development. This divisional headquarters goes beyond erecting a building — it reinforces our resolve to make Ajoni LCDA safe, stable, and conducive for economic and social activities,” Ogungbemi said.

He noted that the station, once completed, will improve response times, increase police visibility, and strengthen intelligence gathering across all communities in Ajoni LCDA. The project is scheduled for completion within three months.

The Chairman expressed profound appreciation to Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for approving and releasing funds for the project. He also commended the Nigeria Police Force for its dedication, and thanked Baba Samuel Alaba Abejide for his fatherly support toward its actualization.

He urged residents of Ajoni LCDA to support security agencies with timely and credible information, stressing that “security is a collective duty.”

Oba Williams Ehinmodupin, the Obanla of Ipao-Ekiti, welcomed the Ajoni-led initiative as “a beacon of hope, safety, and government responsiveness.” He pledged the full cooperation of the traditional institution with the Nigeria Police Force.

“May this foundation we lay today produce lasting peace. May it protect our children yet unborn,” the monarch stated.

Hon. S. A. Abejide , Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, commended both Governor Oyebanji and the Ajoni LCDA leadership for prioritizing security. He listed Governor Oyebanji’s interventions in the area, including roads linking Oke Ayedun–Ipao–Oke Ako–Irele to the Kogi border, and Itapaji–Iyemero to the Kwara border; new military formations at Oke Ako, Irele, Itapaji, and Iyemero; and approvals for a Federal Correctional Centre, NSCDC and Amotekun posts, and a Customary Court — all within Ajoni LCDA.

He recalled how the Governor approved the police division for Ekamefa following community appeals, and additionally promised a police post at Itapaji.

CP Falade Adegoroye Michael, Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State Command, described the project as historic for Ipao-Ekiti and the entire Ajoni LCDA.

“Upon completion, the project will enhance operational efficiency and significantly improve service delivery to our people,” CP Adegoroye said. He pledged that the station would boost police visibility, ensure prompt response to distress calls, and foster closer police-citizen relations.

“Security is a shared responsibility anchored on trust. See something, say something,” he added.

Dr. Oludotun Adetuberu, Director-General of the Homeland Intelligence Agency and representative of the Governor, highlighted state interventions in the Ekamefa axis of Ajoni LCDA. He disclosed that for over a month, more than 100 security personnel have been deployed to the bush, fully catered for by the government — a major reason no adverse incidents have been recorded recently.

He charged all communities in Ajoni LCDA, including Ebira and Hausa residents, to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities. He warned that troublemakers would be banished not only from Ekamefa but from Ekiti State entirely.

Dr. Adetuberu commended Oba Williams Ehinmodupin for being “constantly on his neck” with timely reports, and praised Hon. Prince Michael Ogungbemi for his unwavering efforts in tackling insecurity in Ajoni LCDA.
