A wave of jubilation, rhythmic dancing, and resounding chants filled the air on Wednesday at the Secretariat of Irepodun Ifelodun Local Government as staff turned out in large numbers to warmly receive the formidable Action Club, whose visit symbolized renewed momentum and collective resolve toward the second-term bid of Abiodun Oyebanji ahead of the June 20 gubernatorial election.
The atmosphere was vibrant and emotionally uplifting, reflecting a workforce visibly inspired by what many described as progressive governance and inclusive leadership.
The high-powered delegation, made up of respected administrative figures within the local government system, was led by Mr. Akomolede Rotimi, Permanent Secretary of the Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission, alongside Mrs. Titilayo Toba-Ojo, an Emeritus Permanent Secretary of the LGSC,fondly known as “Mother General,”
Other notable personalities included Mr. Olusesan Aina, (popularly called SENATOR) Executive Secretary and the coordinator of Action Club,, Mrs. Titilayo Olofinbiyi, Executive Secretary,Mr. Familoye Stanley (retired Executive Secretary), Mrs. Deborah-Bosede Akinbobola (HLA), and Mr. Borisade, Coordinator of the HLA Conference, among other distinguished members drawn from within and beyond the local government.
In his address, Mr. Akomolede Rotimi delivered a message laced with appreciation and administrative clarity, commending staff for their unwavering prayers and consistent support for the administration of Governor Oyebanji since its inception.
He highlighted landmark achievements that have reshaped the local government system, including the full implementation of CONHESS and COMHESS salary structures for health workers after over a decade of agitation, expansion of departments from seven to twelve, and the elevation of Permanent Secretaries from one to three. He described these milestones as “living testimonies of purposeful leadership,” urging workers to sustain the tempo of loyalty and commitment.
Echoing this sentiment with poetic conviction, Mrs. Titilayo Toba-Ojo urged staff to stand firm in their support, noting that the visible infrastructural and administrative transformations within the local government framework are too numerous to recount. She described the administration as a “beacon of structured progress,” encouraging workers to become ambassadors of continuity by sharing the narrative of achievements across communities and grassroots platforms.
Further strengthening the momentum, Mr. Olusesan Aina presented a structured analysis of the administration’s impact across welfare, job satisfaction, infrastructural renewal, and improved living standards for workers.
Adding historical perspective, retired Executive Secretary Mr. Familoye Stanley reminded staff of past administrative setbacks, cautioning that failure to sustain progressive leadership could risk a return to less favourable conditions.
In their individual remarks, Mrs. Titilayo Olofinbiyi and Mrs. Deborah-Bosede Akinbobola expressed firm confidence that staff loyalty and grassroots mobilisation would translate into overwhelming electoral support.
In his closing response, Comrade Olawole Festus Aina (Lawii) conveyed heartfelt appreciation on behalf of the workforce, praising the Action Club for what he described as a “timely and enlightening engagement.” He assured the delegation that staff of the council would intensify sensitisation efforts and strengthen unity at the grassroots, expressing optimism that the forthcoming election would record a historic turnout marked by strong support for continuity, stability, and sustained development across the local government system.
