Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, continued his administration’s citizen-centred approach to governance with a community engagement and town hall meeting with stakeholders from Ekiti North Senatorial District on the preparation of the 2027 State Budget.
Held in Ifaki-Ekiti, the strategic engagement brought together Local Government Chairmen, traditional rulers, community leaders and other critical stakeholders, creating a vital platform for the people to articulate their aspirations, development priorities and pressing socio-economic needs.
Beyond the conventional figures and financial projections that define a government budget, the consultation underscored the philosophy that a truly people-oriented budget must first listen to the people.
Roads, healthcare, education, agriculture, human-capital development, economic empowerment and other community needs are not merely budgetary figures; they represent the aspirations, livelihoods and future of the people.
The engagement therefore provided stakeholders with an opportunity to make direct contributions to the 2027 fiscal planning process, ensuring that government expenditure and development priorities are better aligned with the realities and expectations of communities across Ekiti North.
The initiative reflects the administration’s emphasis on participatory governance, fiscal responsibility and inclusive development, recognising that sustainable progress is strongest when government policies are shaped through meaningful dialogue with the citizens they are designed to serve.
As Ekiti looks towards another fiscal year, the Ifaki-Ekiti engagement represents more than a consultation on numbers.
It is a conversation about priorities, possibilities and the equitable deployment of public resources—a deliberate effort to transform the voices of the people into policies, programmes and investments capable of deepening development across the State.
