The Executive Chairman of Ijero Local Government, Hon. Julius Abayomi Folowosele, has once again demonstrated his commitment to democratic governance and grassroots development through a laudable empowerment programme aimed at improving the livelihoods of residents across the local government.

The council secretariat came alive with excitement as beneficiaries thronged the premises to receive various empowerment materials provided by the local government. The atmosphere reflected the joy and appreciation of the beneficiaries for the Chairman’s people-oriented initiative.

In his welcome address, Hon. Folowosele reiterated his unwavering commitment to improving the standard of living of the people by creating opportunities for economic empowerment and self-reliance. He encouraged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items distributed, emphasizing that the programme was designed to enhance productivity, promote entrepreneurship, and improve household incomes.

The Chairman also appealed to residents who were not among the current beneficiaries to remain calm and patient, assuring them that additional phases of the empowerment programme would be rolled out in the coming months to accommodate more people.

Representing His Imperial Majesty, the Ajero of Ijero Kingdom, High Chief Babatope Babalogbon, the Esaba of Ijero Ekiti, delivered the royal father’s goodwill message. He commended the Chairman for the initiative, describing the empowerment programme as the “talk of the town” and a testament to responsive and people-centered leadership.

Similarly, the Alara of Ara Ekiti, His Royal Majesty Oba Emmanuel Adedara, described the programme as an unexpected but pleasant surprise. He praised the Chairman’s developmental efforts and urged all beneficiaries to utilize the empowerment materials responsibly for their intended purposes.

Among the dignitaries present at the event were the Leader of the Legislative House, Ijero Local Government, Hon. Taiwo Mayowa, accompanied by all members of the Legislative Council. Directors of Departments in the local government were also conspicuously present, adding colour and significance to the historic occasion.

The event was further enlivened by the captivating performance of the Ijero Local Government Cultural Troupe, whose melodious renditions added colour, excitement, and rich cultural flavour to the occasion, earning applause from guests and beneficiaries alike.

Items distributed during the empowerment programme included cutlasses, metal files, spraying machines and agricultural chemicals for farmers, hair dryers, hair clippers, rain boots, sewing machines, and vulcanizing machines, among other tools intended to boost productivity and encourage sustainable livelihoods.

The empowerment programme further underscores the commitment of the Folowosele-led administration to promoting inclusive development, reducing poverty, and empowering residents through practical support that will positively impact their socio-economic well-being.
