The Executive Chairman of Ekameta Local Council Development Area, Hon. Dr. Leye Adeniji, has felicitated with Nigerians on the occasion of the 66th Independence Anniversary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the 30th Anniversary of the creation of Ekiti State, both being celebrated on October 1st, 2026.

In his Independence Day message issued from the Council Secretariat in Erijiyan-Ekiti, Dr. Adeniji described October 1st as a double celebration for the people of Ekiti State.

According to him, while Nigeria marks 66 years of nationhood, Ekiti State also attains 30 years of existence as a distinct and progressive State since its creation on October 1st, 1996.

He noted that Nigeria has weathered many storms in her journey to nationhood and has continued to demonstrate resilience, unity and hope for a greater future, while commending the founding fathers and past heroes for their sacrifices.

On Ekiti State at 30, the Council boss lauded the vision of the founding fathers of the State and successive administrations that have contributed to the growth of the Land of Honour and Fountain of Knowledge.

Hon. Dr. Adeniji also used the occasion to congratulate the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO), on the successful rounding off of his first term in office and his earnest preparation for his second term in office which commences on 16th October, 2026.

He described Governor Oyebanji as a true leader whose people-oriented policies, humane leadership and giant strides in infrastructure, security and workers’ welfare have earned him the love and overwhelming support of Ekiti people, which culminated in his re-election.

“As we celebrate Nigeria at 66 and Ekiti at 30, we celebrate a performing Governor who has made Ekiti proud. On behalf of the good people of Ekameta LCDA, I congratulate Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji on the successful completion of his first term and wish him a more impactful second term starting October 16th,” Dr. Adeniji stated.

He finally urged the people of Ekameta LCDA to continue to support the administrations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Oyebanji and to remain law-abiding as they celebrate the historic day.
