Dr Leye Adeniji the Executive Chairman of Ekameta LCDA in Erijiyan Ekiti is using this medium to debunk the rumors and false alarm of alleged kidnapping in Ekameta LCDA and Erijiyan Ekiti in particular today Tuesday 25th of November, 2025 by suspected fulani herdsmen or Boko Haram.
The information is baseless, unfounded and there is no iota of truth in it.
To set the record straight, after thorough investigation and interrogations by the security men with the pupils and some few farmers and hunters in the area, it was discovered that some few pupils in one private school in Erijiyan said they saw two men who carried guns at their backs with cutlass in their hands and they were washing their hand at the stream very close to their school and on sighting them the pupils ran away. Due to the way the men dressed up coupled with the security tension in the town, the pupils thought they were Boko haram or bandits and they ran away. On getting to the school, the pupils reported that they saw kidnappers. That was how the fake news started spreading to the town and neighboring communities that some kidnappers have been attacking people.
Immediately we swung into action and we mobilised all the security personnel into the place; the Nigerians police, The Army, NSCDC, SIB, DSS, Agro Marshall, Amotekun, local hunters etc numbering more than hundred. We entered the bush and after thorough combing of the whole environment we couldn’t find anybody nor any suspicious object. However, this doesn’t not stop us from beefing up the security, all hands are on deck now in improving the security architecture of Ekiti state. We should also all note that security is the responsibility of everybody. Speak up anytime you see anything strange or any strange faces.
I want to advise that our people should be calm and carry out their legal duties and their normal daily activities without fear or trembling. His Excellency Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji is taking the bull by the horn and he is not leaving any stone unturned as regards the security of lives and properties of Ekiti people.
I want to thank all our Security personnel for their prompt response, bravery and proactiveness. The peace we have been enjoying in Ekiti under the Leadership of BAO shall continue.
