In a remarkable demonstration of compassionate leadership and a firm commitment to improving the welfare and security of residents, the Executive Chairman of Ajoni Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Ambassador Prince Michael Ogungbemi, FCPA, has distributed free solar-powered security lighting systems to selected beneficiaries across communities within the Council area.
The initiative, tagged “BAO Solar”, is part of the Chairman’s ongoing efforts to enhance public safety, stimulate economic activities, and improve the living conditions of residents across the LCDA.
The solar lighting systems were distributed to carefully selected beneficiaries following a thorough nomination and evaluation process to ensure that the intervention reaches individuals who would benefit most from the program.
The beneficiaries include traders, artisans, small business owners, and households whose daily activities often extend into the evening hours and therefore require reliable lighting for security and productivity.
Speaking during the distribution ceremony, the Chairman explained that the BAO Solar Security System was specifically designed to assist residents in illuminating their homes, shops, and immediate surroundings, thereby improving visibility and strengthening security within their neighborhoods.
He emphasized that the initiative reflects the administration’s dedication to creating a safer and more enabling environment for businesses and community life across Ajoni LCDA.
According to the Chairman, the solar systems are being provided completely free of charge, as the Council has taken full responsibility for all associated costs. These include the purchase of the equipment, installation, and the payment of required subscription services.
Prince Ogungbemi further assured the beneficiaries that they would not bear any financial burden for the usage of the system, describing the intervention as a strategic investment in community safety and economic empowerment.
He noted that the initiative was made possible through the continued support and funding of the LCDA by the Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, whose people-centered policies and commitment to grassroots development have enabled local governments across the state to implement impactful programs that directly improve the lives of citizens.
The Chairman expressed deep appreciation to the Governor for his unwavering support for local governance and community development, stating that the success of initiatives such as the BAO Solar program is a direct reflection of the administration’s dedication to inclusive and sustainable development across Ekiti State.
He also encouraged the beneficiaries to make responsible and effective use of the solar systems, stressing that the program is intended not only to support businesses and households but also to enhance security within communities.
Prince Ogungbemi further urged residents to continue supporting the development agenda of Governor Oyebanji ahead of the forthcoming governorship election scheduled for June 20, 2026, noting that the Governor’s policies have consistently delivered meaningful progress across the state.
The event was attended by key officials of the Council, including senior management staff and other council personnel who witnessed the distribution exercise.
Residents and beneficiaries expressed profound appreciation to the Chairman for the thoughtful initiative, describing the intervention as both timely and impactful, particularly in supporting small businesses, improving household lighting, and strengthening nighttime security within their communities.
Many beneficiaries noted that the solar lighting systems would significantly enhance their ability to operate their businesses safely after dark while also contributing to improved safety within their neighborhoods.
The BAO Solar initiative stands as yet another testament to the people-centered leadership of the Ajoni LCDA Chairman and his administration’s unwavering commitment to delivering meaningful development to every community within the Council area.
