The management of Aiyekire Local Government, Ode-Ekiti, Ekiti State, today passed a vote of confidence in the Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Adeyemo Davies, following his remarkable achievements and developmental initiatives across the council.
The decision was taken during the management’s monthly meeting held at the Local Government Secretariat, Ode-Ekiti. The meeting was attended by political office holders, the Head of Local Government Administration and directors from various departments of the council.
The motion for the vote of confidence was moved by Hon. Esan Ogunjobi, Secretary of the Local Government, and seconded by Hon. Adesoba Sesan, with the Head of Local Government Administration and directors in attendance.
The management commended Hon. Adeyemo Davies for his commitment to the development of Aiyekire Local Government, particularly his investment in long-term agricultural projects capable of positively transforming the economic future of the council.
AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT
The management highlighted some of the achievements recorded in the agricultural sector under the leadership of Hon. Adeyemo Davies, including:
- The planting of 3,000 Gmelina trees across the council within two and a half years.
- The cultivation and harvesting of 3,500 heaps of cassava.
- The cultivation of 2,000 heaps of yam.
- The proposed planting of 10,000 oil palm seedlings across Aiyekire Local Government.
SECURITY EMPOWERMENT
In his efforts to ensure adequate security of lives and property, particularly along the boundaries of the Local Government, the Chairman has procured five motorcycles, torchlights, raincoats and other security equipment for security personnel.
The initiative has contributed to improved security and has enabled residents across the Local Government to enjoy greater peace and safety.
ELECTRICITY
The management also commended the Chairman for his intervention in the electricity sector. Shortly after assuming office, Hon. Adeyemo Davies facilitated the extension of electricity to seven communities within Aiyekire Local Government.
Electricity was extended to the communities through the provision of poles, cables and other necessary materials. In addition, solar power projects have been provided to communities across the Local Government.
OTHER AREAS OF ACHIEVEMENT
The management further acknowledged the Chairman’s interventions and achievements in the following areas:
- Widows and women empowerment
- Education support
- Staff welfare
- Health and water supply
- Agricultural empowerment
- Security and community development
The management described these achievements as evidence of the Chairman’s commitment to improving the welfare of residents and promoting sustainable development across Aiyekire Local Government.
Following extensive deliberations, the management unanimously passed a vote of confidence in Hon. Adeyemo Davies, appreciating his leadership, developmental efforts and commitment to the overall growth and progress of Aiyekire Local Government.
The management also expressed its support for the Chairman and encouraged him to sustain the good work and continue implementing programmes that will have lasting positive impacts on the people of Aiyekire Local Government.
