The lawmaker representing Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II, Hon. Biodun Omoleye, has been honoured with the Ekiti Parapo Honours Award of Excellence for his contributions to public service, humanitarian initiatives and the development of his constituency and Ekiti State.
The award was presented to the federal lawmaker by the Editorial Board of Kayegbo Media Outfit as part of activities marking the 140th anniversary of the Ekiti Parapo War of Liberation, the 30th anniversary of the creation of Ekiti State and the 30th anniversary of Kayegbo Media Outfit.
Omoleye, a former Chief of Staff to the Ekiti State Government, has traversed the political landscape at the local government, state and national levels, culminating in his election to the National Assembly in 2023.
Presenting the award, Chairman of Kayegbo Media Outfit, Chief Morakinyo Ogunniyi, said Omoleye was selected for the honour because of his commitment to public service and his contributions to the welfare and development of his constituents.
Ogunniyi said the Ekiti Parapo Honours Award was instituted to recognise distinguished sons and daughters of Ekiti State who have made meaningful contributions to the growth and development of the state.
He described Omoleye as one of the personalities whose public service record and people-oriented initiatives have continued to make an impact in the state.
According to him, “The Ekiti Parapo Honours Award was founded to identify Ekiti sons and daughters who have contributed meaningfully to the development of the state, and Hon. Biodun Omoleye is considered to be one of them.”
The award committee also cited Omoleye’s humanitarian interventions, public-service initiatives and various people-oriented programmes and projects attracted to his constituency as part of the reasons for his recognition.
Receiving the award, Omoleye expressed appreciation to the management and editorial board of Kayegbo Media Outfit for finding him worthy of the honour.
He said the recognition would serve as an additional motivation to intensify his efforts towards improving the lives of his constituents and contributing to the overall development of Ekiti State.
The lawmaker also congratulated Kayegbo Media Outfit on its 30th anniversary, commending the organisation for its consistency and commitment to community journalism, Ekiti development and humanitarian causes.
He noted that the media remained an important pillar in documenting the history and development of communities, while urging Kayegbo Media Outfit to sustain its contribution to journalism and the advancement of Ekiti State.
