Mrs. Akinbobola Deborah-Bosede, the renowned, vibrant and humane Head of Local Administration of Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government, has charged staff to remain committed to continuous academic advancement, professional development and purposeful career growth, rather than becoming complacent with the academic qualifications that secured their initial appointments into the Local Government Service.
Mrs. Akinbobola gave the charge during her enthusiastic monthly engagement with the Information and Civic Orientation Department team on Monday, urging staff to combine diligence, discipline, punctuality, reliability, confidentiality and unwavering commitment to their official responsibilities with a deliberate pursuit of knowledge and self-development.
According to her, “Your vision must never become static.” She encouraged staff to pursue relevant academic and professional qualifications capable of positioning them for greater responsibilities and creating enduring landmarks in their careers.
She noted that the civil service is a place where dedication, competence, experience and continuous learning can transform an individual’s career trajectory.
She emphasized that an employee could begin from the most junior cadre—whether as a messenger, cleaner or other entry-level worker—and, through determination, education, discipline and visionary ambition, rise to become a formidable administrative professional participating meaningfully in the management and development of the Local Government system.
The HLA further admonished staff to shun complacency, laziness, destructive gossip and other negative attitudes capable of frustrating career progression.
She stressed that genuine loyalty to government, respect for the civil service order, and commitment to assigned schedules must remain inseparable from the pursuit of personal advancement.
Mrs Akinbobola further acknowledged the supportive atmosphere being created under the administration of Governor Oyebanji Abayomi, particularly in providing opportunities for workers to aspire, grow and attain greater heights in the service.
In conclusion, she equally appreciated the contributions of Honourable Oluwatuyi Oluwagbenga, other Local Government and LCDA chairmen, the leadership of the local government service commission, and the permanent secretary, Mr Akomolede Rotimi, alongside other top management bigwigs, for their continued commitment to the welfare and advancement of the workforce.
Responding, Mr. Asubiojo Olanipekun, Director of Information and Civic Orientation, Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government, who led the team, expressed profound appreciation to Mrs. Akinbobola for her courageous, motherly and transformational counsel.
He noted that her message had rekindled the conviction that every staff member possesses the potential to rise to the pinnacle of his or her chosen career through knowledge, perseverance and purposeful strides.
In conclusion, he said that every staff must therefore keep learning, keep improving, keep dreaming and keep moving upward—because a career without vision may become stagnant, but a career powered by knowledge, discipline and determination will surely become a lasting legacy.
