The Ekiti Central Zone Executive Secretary of the Local Government Service Commission, Barrister Ayodele Aluko, on Tuesday, has charged staff across all cadres to embrace astute, proactive, and result-oriented professionalism in the discharge of their official responsibilities.
Barrister Aluko emphasized that deliberate efficiency, discipline, and professionalism within the service would naturally strengthen institutional performance, enhance system responsiveness, and position the Local Government Service as a credible benchmark for sustainable development and administrative excellence in Ekiti State and Nigeria at large.
He particularly admonished officers within the administrative and management cadres to uphold candid supervision, firm leadership, and upright oversight in the execution of their duties. According to him, departmental heads must be vibrant, dynamic, and decisive, ensuring that official responsibilities are taken seriously and that subordinates do not operate in a lackadaisical manner capable of undermining collective productivity or diminishing institutional ratings during official assessments.
In her response, the Head of Local Government Administration (HLA), Mrs. Akinbobola Deborah-Bosede, reinforced the insightful and dynamic charge delivered by Barrister Aluko. She urged senior administrative and management officers to remain logical, disciplined, and professionally consistent in the conduct of their duties.
Mrs. Akinbobola further outlined two critical approaches expected of staff in the effective execution of their responsibilities:
Collaborative Accountability:
Staff are encouraged to promote teamwork, timely reporting, and mutual responsibility, ensuring that tasks are executed with clarity, transparency, and a shared commitment to institutional objectives.
Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
Officers are urged to embrace innovation, capacity development, and proactive learning, while seeking improved work methods that enhance service delivery, operational efficiency, and measurable outcomes.
She concluded by affirming that unwavering dedication to these principles would not only improve individual performance but also strengthen public confidence, institutional excellence, and the overall integrity of the Local Government Service framework.
