…Assures the People of Even Greater Impact in the Year Ahead

The Executive Chairman of Ikere Local Government, Hon. (Sqn. Ldr. Rtd.) Olu Egbejoda Adamolekun, has expressed heartfelt appreciation to the good people of Ikere for their unwavering support, cooperation, and trust as his administration marks two years in office.

He stated that since assuming office on 4th January 2024, his administration has remained committed to purposeful governance, people-centred development, and effective service delivery in line with the Six Pillars agenda and development vision of His Excellency, Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

Reflecting on projects and programmes executed within the period, the Chairman noted that his stewardship has been guided by prudence, accountability, and a deliberate focus on security, infrastructure, education, agriculture, empowerment, and environmental sustainability at the grassroots level.

💥Security

The Chairman began his account of stewardship with security, describing it as the foundation upon which meaningful development thrives.

👉He disclosed that his administration deliberately prioritised security by committing his monthly security vote to the consistent payment of the Police and other security agencies, including Amotekun, Peace Corps, and Agro Marshals, in line with Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s security-first approach.

👉Local hunters were engaged to monitor and secure farmlands, while motorcycles were provided for Agro Marshals, particularly around the Igbo Oka axis.

👉Office space was provided for these security outfits within the Local Government Secretariat to strengthen coordination and rapid response.

👉Regular bush-combing operations and police patrols are conducted at least three times weekly, especially during festive periods, to ensure the safety of lives and property across Ikere Local Government.

💥Infrastructure and Power

👉In what is considered one of the most ambitious local government-driven infrastructure interventions in Ekiti State, the Chairman facilitated the installation of high-powered solar street lights from Ikere Roundabout to the Sawmill/Drivers’ Union Garage, enhancing security, beautifying the town, and promoting sustainable energy.

👉Over 16 township roads were graded across Oke’kere and Odo Oja communities to improve mobility.

👉The Local Government intervened twice to rehabilitate vandalised high-tension cables along Ado and Ise roads, preventing prolonged power outages.

👉The Chairman also facilitated the reconstruction of the Ikere Local Government main gate to a modern standard, a project financed and delivered through the Adamolekun Dynasty as part of his commitment to institutional renewal.

👉Other projects include the reconstruction of the galvanised steel perimeter fence at Ikere Pavilion, now known as Ojude BAO, and the renovation and complete re-roofing of the Chairman’s Office following its total roof collapse.

💥Health

👉As part of efforts to strengthen primary healthcare delivery, the Chairman facilitated and delivered hospital equipment worth millions of naira to health centres in Afao and Okegbongbeyin through an international partnership with Project CURE.

The intervention has enhanced service delivery at the grassroots. The Chairman also provided a mobility support wheelchair to a physically challenged resident.

💥Water and Environment

👉Two Indian Mark II hand pumps were installed at military checkpoints along Ise and Akure roads.

👉Boreholes were drilled and installed at Odose, Idemo, and Eruobodo (Are/Araromi), while pumping machines were installed at the Local Government Secretariat.

👉The administration desilted 3,161 metres of blocked drains and culverts, disposed of excavated silts, and dredged four waterways in support of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s flood control and environmental protection initiatives.

💥Education

👉Construction of a 7-block students’ hostel at BOUESTI, accommodating 56 students and to be known as the BAO/MCA Hostel, is near completion.

👉During the September 2024 Back-to-School programme, thousands of school bags, exercise books, and water bottles were distributed to pupils across the Local Government.

👉One hundred JAMB forms were purchased for indigent students, including persons living with disabilities.

👉Primary schools also received jerseys and footballs as rewards for first and second runners-up during inter-school football competitions.

👉The Chairman also initiated an ICT digital training programme to equip 100 youths from Ikere Local Government.

💥Agriculture

👉In line with Governor Oyebanji’s food security agenda, one hectare of maize intercropped with cassava was cultivated for the 2024/2025 farming season, with another hectare prepared for the 2025/2026 season.

👉Poultry farming, including turkeys and fowls, was introduced at the council, with plans to sell produce at subsidised rates during festive periods.

👉The Local Government raised and sold 2,000 seedlings each of Melina, Cocoa, and Oil Palm at subsidised rates.

💥Empowerment and Welfare

👉Over 25 individuals across the wards were sponsored for vocational training, with graduation held at the Adult Education Centre, Afao, Ikere-Ekiti.

👉Another batch of beneficiaries has been enrolled and is set to graduate soon.

👉An empowerment programme was organised on 28th May 2025 to celebrate families blessed with multiple births.

👉In a sustained welfare initiative, the Chairman devoted additional funds from his security vote to provide a monthly stipend of ₦10,000 to five beneficiaries in each of the seven wards. This programme has been sustained for over 20 months, benefitting 35 residents monthly.

👉Additionally, over 20 casual workers were engaged to support Local Government operations through prudent resource management.

The Chairman expressed profound gratitude to His Excellency, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, for his leadership, guidance, and unwavering support, and appreciated the Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, for her motherly role.

He also thanked the legislative arms of the council and members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, traditional institutions, APC leaders and elders, political stakeholders, and the people of Ikere Local Government for their cooperation and confidence.

Hon. Adamolekun reaffirmed his commitment to transparency, security, and sustained grassroots development, assuring the people of Ikere Òyè that the next one year of his administration will be even more impactful.
