First Lady Commissions Ultramodern Ajoni LCDA Administrative Headquarters, Solar-Powered Motorized Borehole, and Adire Trainees Empowerment
It was a historic and colorful day in Ajoni Local Council Development Area (LCDA) as the Wife of the Governor of Ekiti State, Her Excellency, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, officially commissioned the Ultramodern Ajoni Administrative Headquarters, a solar-powered motorized borehole, and presented empowerment support to Adire trainees under the LCDA’s youth and women empowerment initiative of the visionary and purpose driven Executive Chairman of the Council area, Amb. Prince Michael Ogungbemi fcpa.
The event, which drew an overwhelming crowd of excited residents, community leaders, and dignitaries, turned the Ajoni headquarters into a beehive of activities as citizens trooped in their numbers to witness the unveiling of the gigantic edifice — a landmark achievement that now stands as the permanent seat of governance for Ajoni LCDA.
In her keynote address, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji commended the Chairman of Ajoni LCDA, Amb. Prince Michael Ogungbemi, FCPA, for his vision, resilience, and commitment to grassroots development, particularly for conceiving and delivering such a monumental administrative building within his tenure.
It will be recalled that the First Lady laid the foundation of the building, and today, she’s commissioning it. She urged other council chairmen across the state to emulate the Ajoni model of purposeful governance, describing the initiative as a clear testament to visionary leadership.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman, Amb. Ogungbemi, appreciated the First Lady for honoring the invitation and gracing the commissioning despite her busy schedule. He described the new administrative complex as a symbol of good governance, transparency, and service delivery. The Chairman further acknowledged the support of his council management team, staff, and the people of Ajoni, noting that the project was a collective triumph for the entire LCDA.
In a show of appreciation to history, Amb. Ogungbemi presented Certificates of Commendation to the founding fathers of Ajoni LCDA, recognizing their selflessness, courage, and sacrifices in the agitation that birthed the council area. He also presented an acrylic designed 16-20 sized photograph to the First Lady as an appreciation to the motherly support from her to his administration.
The event also featured a cash empowerment programme for Adire trainees, jointly presented by the First Lady, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, the Chairman, Amb. Prince Michael Ogungbemi and his wife, Olori Christianah Olawumi Ogungbemi — a gesture aimed at boosting economic empowerment and encouraging self-reliance among women and youth in Ajoni.
Her Excellency, who categorically described the performing Ajoni Council Chairman as Mr Project later led the official commissioning of the solar-powered motorized borehole and the Ultramodern Ajoni Administrative Headquarters, marking a new dawn in infrastructure and service delivery for the LCDA.
Goodwill messages were delivered by prominent dignitaries, including the Ekiti State APC Chairman, Barr. Sola Elesin, the Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, Chief S.A. Abejide, and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government (represented by a Director in the Ministry). All speakers showered encomiums on the Ajoni Chairman, with the Permanent Secretary declaring that “ in our records at the Ministry, Amb. Prince Michael Ogungbemi tops the list of performing Chairmen in Ekiti State. ”
Also in attendance are Ajoni Royal fathers, top political leaders, party faithfuls and the jubilant residents of Ajoni community
The ceremony ended with an atmosphere of joy, cultural displays, and prayers of thanksgiving, as the people of Ajoni celebrated the birth of a monumental legacy in their history.
